Covid-19 Update

We have opened our large downstairs room for counselling and groups of up to six people, taking all the measures we can to make it as Covid-safe as possible. Our garden is also open for counselling and we have set up gazebos in private spaces for use by counsellors and clients. We are reviewing the situation and, as soon as it is safe to do so, we will open more spaces so that other therapies can return to Lifeways.

We are always happy to signpost those seeking counselling towards help and answer queries on 01789 292052. As well as using the Lifeways garden, many counsellors are offering online or phone appointments.

Pilates has proven itself for more than 80 years as an effective and safe method of exercise when taught and applied correctly.

Joseph Pilates developed Pilates as a result of teaching fitness and exercise techniques while being interned in Germany during the war. His aim was complete co-ordination of body, mind and spirit.

Today Pilates is practiced by people of all ages and abilities from dancers and athletes to the general public. It is a highly effective low impact way to stretch, strengthen and streamline the body and is often referred to as 'intelligent exercise'.

It focuses on core stability and can help to restore the natural curves of the spine, relieve tension and enhance self-confidence.

The Benefits of Pilates include:

  • Improved balance, co-ordination, circulation, strength and flexibility
  • Development of core strength, stability and improved posture
  • Relief of aches and pains and help with back pain

Pilates complements other therapies e.g. massage, physiotherapy etc. It is a low impact safe form of exercise which improves sports performance, helps prevent injuries, relieves stress and tension by helping body-mind balance and improves body awareness, mental focus and resilience.
